In 2013, over 11,000 people attended The Melbourne International Coffee Expo. Now, MICE is on again in 2014, from Thursday May 15th till Sunday May 18th. It is the largest coffee exhibition held across Australasia and boasts a gathering of over 150 exhbitors under the one roof, from cafe owners, those in the roasting business and more. It's a great opportunity to meet with industry specialists and get to know more about the coffee business, and the beverage in general.
Among the most anticipated events held there are the World Latte Art, World Coffee in Good Spirits, World Cup Tasters Championships and the Australian Barista Championships. The Australian Barista semi-final will be happening on Saturday from 12 - 5 PM. Attend and perhaps see your local barista battle it out to claim the top spot for and haave their coffee brewing skills recognised.
While entry is restricted to trade visitors only on Thursday and Friday, it is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday. For general visitors, tickets are $25 each for a day pass and can be purchased at the door.
