A trip to The Great Ocean Road is not complete without a visit to Otway Fly Treetop Adventures, a beautifully engineered 600 metre long and 25 metre high elevated tree top walk in The Great Otway National Park.
The 1 hour rainforest walk experience is longest and tallest of its type in the world, approximately 2km in total. With stunning views and a chance to experience the serenity of life high in the tree tops, the Otway Treetop walk is a family friendly activity that can be completed at a gentle pace for visitors with limited mobility.
Visitors can learn more of the wildlife found within the rainforest via information placards scattered throughout the walk. Incredible views are guaranteed, with even more found at the top of the spiral stair tower, heading up to the roof of the canopy. The spiral stair tower might not be ideal might not be ideal for those afraid of heights, although it isn't a necessary part of the adventure.
Prior to the start of the tree top structure walkway, children will enjoy the Prehistoric Path, a short walk through the rainforest where they will search for hidden dinosaurs in the trees.
Adrenaline junkies will enjoy the guided Otway Fly Zip, a rapid zipline through the rainforest while strapped to a safety harness. Taking 3.5 hours in total (including the Treetop Walk) the Otway Fly Zip flies adventurers through the tree tops, travelling from cloud station to cloud station on a series of cable spans, offering a once-in-a-lifetime eco rainforest experience.
After their treetop walk or fly zip, visitors should take a moment to re-energize and refuel at the Black Snail Café, named after an amazing little creature only found in the Otway ranges. With indoor and outdoor dining, there is a selection of hot food, beverages, sandwiches and snacks at the café, with an outdoor playground and oversized chess set for the little ones (or big kids) to play with too.
The Otway Fly Treetop Adventures can be reached within 2.5 hrs from Melbourne and 1.5 hrs from Geelong. Open every day 9.00am – 5.00pm, with the last entry to the tree top walk at 4.00pm.
