Nanna Cool Markets in Melbourne's South East is what a friend describes as "etsy without the postage costs", offering an eclectic mix of vintage and handmade goods for sale.
With most similar markets operating in the inner city suburbs, Nanna Cool is one the first of its kind in the area, bringing together some of the coolest stallholders to Melbourne's beautiful beachside suburbs.
Describing themselves as "Markets with Craftitude", Nanna Cool embraces old school craft alongside vintage fashion and collectibles. You can expect to find a stallholder specialising in vintage frocks next to another selling candles in tea cups, or a DIY jewellery stand next to another selling succulents. It might sound cliché, but there really is something for everyone at Nanna Cool Markets.
Nanna Cool Markets have been running every second month since December 2013. Each event brings forth not only a new set of stallholders and some repeat sellers, but also interesting (and free) hands-on workshops and demonstrations for visitors to enjoy. Gingerbread decorating, a tie-dye workshop, yarnbombing demonstrations chocolate making have all featured at Nanna Cool Markets since its inception.
Cakes, muffins and hot food keep hunger at bay, with woodfired pizza's and a sausage sizzle offered at the last market. And let's be honest, a market isn't a market without a coffee! Hot beverages are available to buy and enjoy while you browse.
No need to leave the rug rats at home either, with facepainting and kids activity tables, there is enough to keep the little ones entertained while you partake in a little shopping.
Perhaps it is the market's vintage vibe, family friendly community atmosphere, or its interesting hands-on activities that will make you want to return. Check out Nanna Cool Markets website and Facebook page for upcoming market dates to mark in your dairies.
