Rippon Lea House & Gardens, under the care of the National Trust of Australia, is one of Melbourne's grand historic estates positioned 20 minutes from the CBD.  This suburban historic house of beauty boasts manicured gardens of some 5.7 hectares surrounded by age old trees and a tranquil lake, the Southern Hemisphere's largest fernery, and an orchard with a vast number of heritage apple and pear varieties.  Rippon Lea hosts a number of exhibitions and events throughout the year, with the latest in perfect setting: Love, Desire and Riches Exhibition: The Fashion of Weddings now extended to 2 November 2014.

Love Desire and Riches: The Fashion of Weddings, presents a collection of over 50 famed and rarely seen wedding gowns and accessories sourced from around the world.  In a vast collection to admire, spanning over 2 centuries of fashion, global designer pieces will be on show such as Valentino for Princess Marie Chantal of Greece and an Armani creation worn by Charlene, Princess of Monaco.

Australian designers and celebrities are not forgotten, with a showcase of Akira Isogawa and Collette Dinnigan's fashion career and gowns designed for Jennifer Hawkins (Maticevski) and Kyly Clarke (Alex Perry) on display.  Film and television pieces worn by Kylie Minogue (as Charlene in Neighbours) to Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Meryl Streep make up part of the collection.
